Last week Tuesday the ID/Lab team, along with the architects Ashton Raggatt McDougall and other consultants involved with the refurbishment of the $135.8 million Hamer Hall in Melbourne, were invited by the Arts Centre to a tuning concert. It was a welcome change from all the hard work that has gone into the design of the signage!
During the informal reception, prior to the concert, acrobats and people dressed up in period clothing made sure we all got tuned up to hear the MSO play their symphonies to test the new acoustics.
This was followed by an outstanding performance of the Victorian College of the Arts band. Both the MSO and VCA band and the sound systems passed with flying colours.
Of course we had a quick look around to see how everything is coming together. Although not all signs are installed yet (all signage should be complete in the next 2 to 3 weeks), we can show at least one sneak peak:
